With this client feature we had the pleasure of getting to have the Geftos's share their personal thoughts on their renovation project. Along side the Geftos's perspective, we get to share some insights on the collaborative process for their kitchen and home remodeling. We're so excited to share the behind the scenes look at one of our latest projects!
Our client Jeff Geftos shared with us when asked, " how did you first approach the idea of coming up with the designs that you went with?"
"It was done by Tony and Patricia. I started off with a design concept that we liked. And they took it from there. That's how we hired him. We walked into their shop and the process took off from there."
"So there was no preconceived idea of what you were looking for ahead of time?"
"No. No. Not really, we were just like, okay, let's just go help where we can. We were in there occasionally, we [threw in some] design ideas."
The Geftos's trust and faith in the brilliant and creative minds of our design team truly shines here as they were able to take the limited concepts provided to them and turn it into an absolutely gorgeous renovated kitchen.
When asked, "Was there any sort of constraints that you were potentially worried about that would be a hindrance to the project?"
Jeff responded with, "Well, the one thing that we were worried about was the cost. Because it was a big project. And it continued to grow as time went on and as we kept on adding, I think Patricia said it was about 13 times [that we added on to the project]. We had 'em all done all the bathrooms and laundry. Pretty much we did the whole home. With the kitchen and everything [that continued to follow after], we were, we were still quite happy with the end result [in pricing]. It came in at a price that we were comfortable with."
Florida Designer Cabinetry prides ourselves with being able to do the most that we can for our clients, and for such an amazing overhaul project like the Geftos Residence, we were able help them come to a manageable cost. Further showing how we at FDC are one of the most client friendly interior home design companies out there.
Being able to include functionality within one's home is of the utmost importance of a high end luxury home. Florida Designer Cabinetry provides a wide variety options available for clients to choose from. When asked how the Geftos's went about including functionality and into aesthetically pleasing home, Jeff shared, "I'm not a good cook. I don't like to cook, [my wife] doesn't cook. Though being able to have easy oven access with induction was very nice to include. Yeah, you know, everything with what was done in the kitchen. We loved it."
He continued to follow up with, "It is seamless and yes, you don't see anything (in reference to the flush cabinets). It's all built alongside the refrigerator, everything. Drawers and cabinets and to even have the functionality [of extra storage], with two [additional] empty ones. Yeah, the functionality. We have more storage than we've ever had in any house. Yeah, there's a lot of storage in there."
Jeff also wanted to note the finesse of our smooth opening push cabinets by saying, "oh yeah, the push cabinets. Very nice. Touch on, opens, the back of the feet or knees don't have to hit hardware. Really like it."
We wanted to follow up on asking the importance of having that extra storage, we inquired, "You would say storage space was a priority?" To which he responded with, "It is, yeah, it's important. Yeah. It's very, especially in a condominium. Yeah. Especially, especially in Florida. There's no basements. Yeah. It's very important.
"Was that something that you were keeping in mind ahead of time with the project?"
"It was part of the design. Yeah. We, we told 'em (Tony and Patricia) what we needed."
And for those wondering how input is considered with a home renovation project at FDC, know that we do all our can to make your home dreams come true. So when asked, "how much input on the collaborative process did you have on the renovation throughout the process, or would you say it's more of Tony and Patricia leading the way? Jeff's faith did not waiver with them as he shared, "it was mostly Tony and Patricia, but we weren't afraid to give her 2 cents worth... maybe 5 cents. 5 cents worth. We're not shy. It really was mostly 90/10 precent split. Yeah. We didn't have a whole lot of input. We liked what we saw and we had a couple little minor changes, but by and large their designs were what we wanted. I think the kitchen bar is probably the biggest thing that we changed."
To clarify on what the '5 cents worth of input' was, the Geftos's explained, "Because we added the last few cabinets at the end, we were trying to keep it kind of like a simple block and then we added the glass. And it looks great as you walk in. which we thought was a perfect touch."
When asked about the completion of the renovation, Jeff excitedly shared, " It's a gorgeous, especially when they saw the place before. The before and after. Yeah. Unbelievable. I mean, amazing. Yeah. Amazing. Amazing difference. Amazing."
The words of the client speak for themself.
